Faye is now a Guardian of Virunga National Park
Talking about putting together a flash website like Mountain Gorilla Noseprints is much, MUCH easier than actually putting a website online. Building websites can cost upwards in the mid to high tens of thousands of dollars. I’d asked around on the internet, scoured dozens of forums and wrote too-many-to-count emails.
One thing I noticed is that web developers were very open to and interested in the work that non profits such GCD are doing in the name of conservation and, as a result, gave me very, VERY fair quotes. I am so grateful for that. Many of them enjoyed looking at the extensive photo library here, as well as the videos.
I enjoy reading GCD’s excellent blog, so I’m going to leave the blogging to them.
Instead I’m going to focus on what I like to do. Online, I enjoy gathering and sharing links, commenting on forums and reading articles and blog posts. Offline, I’m now starting to work on other things to help raise money for orgs like Gorillacd. I do have a great apes Facebook but it’s not very developed (yet). I’m going to get started with Twitter soon, too.
Next step: tomorrow, I’m sponsoring one of the 14 remaining spots in the park.
